BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE BRING HOME SOME ICE WINE, AND LIGHT THE FIRE FOR A REAL SWEET TREAT
Story by Marlene Montanez
Rising from a blanket of snow with the eternal black background of the night, rows and rows of seemingly dead vines appear overtaken by the callousness of an icy winter. But upon closer inspection, you see grapes, frosted over, yet still clinging to their skeletal backbone. On this particularly bleak January evening, viewers would witness an even stranger element to this scene: dozens of workers out in the middle of the night, carefully picking the grapes off the vines before dusk. They will be making ice wine and must gently sever the fruit from its frozen limbs while keeping the juices intact.
